About Providence

Our Story

Providence Church has been meeting in the Madison area since 1993. Each week, our church family joins us from the city of Madison and all across south-central Wisconsin. Over the years, the Lord has blessed our church family richly with his gracious care and provision during times of blessing, challenge, growth, loss, and great joy. Through all circumstances, our calling as a church has remained the same: proclaiming the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We warmly welcome visitors of all backgrounds to join us to worship God, hear the promise of the gospel, and be blessed by the Providence community.

Providence Church is a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) denomination. More broadly, we enjoy denominational fellowship with churches in the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council (NAPARC), which includes the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), the United Reformed Churches in North America (URC), and several other denominations.

Madison Chinese Christian Church

For many years, Providence Church has shared a church building with the Madison Chinese Christian Church (MCCC). Historically, the two congregations operated independently although we enjoyed fellowship and partnership with one another by virtue of sharing a common space.

In June, 2021, Joseph Wan was called by Providence church to serve Madison CCC. In October of 2022, Joseph became Pastor to MCCC, working on behalf of Providence Church to pastor the Chinese congregation. Pastor Iho Tree served as pastor of MCCC from 2010-2022. Pastor Tree is now retired.

Elders & Deacons

Our church elders provide leadership to our congregation and shepherd the family of God in spiritual growth. They are also responsible for ensuring that the gospel is proclaimed in truth and in purity, and that the sacraments are faithfully administered.

Our ruling elders are Chris Kendziora and John Culley. Bill Chiu serves as ruling elder to MCCC.

Our church deacons are charged with showing the compassion of Christ toward church members, visitors, and strangers alike. They steward the gifts God gives to the church and help care for those in need.

Our deacons are Sam Klumpers, Henry Thompson, and Kirk Klumpers.
